Testek Sells 787 Generator Test Stand to ANA Airlines

.. With ANA having fifty-five (55) aircraft on order, Testek's test stand will be providing quality service for ANA for many years to come. The B787, dubbed as the latest generation electric airplane, will generate approximately 1 MW of electric power during flight using two (2), 250 kVA variable frequency starter generators mounted on each main engine. The APU includes a 225 kVA auxiliary generator for ground operations. Therefore, it is imperative to have a highly reliable testing facility to ensure that these generators are tested in accordance with the CMMs and the OEMs (Hamilton Sundstrand) standards. Testek will be supplying this equipment with Hamilton Sundstrand's concurrence to ANA that Testek is the most-qualified supplier for this important decision.

Testek's state-of-the-art Electrical Power Generation Component Test Stand, Model 101690, will put the B787 generators through stringent testing requirements that the B787 will demand throughout its high power electrical requirements during flights across the world. The test stand includes a 600 HP drive motor, multi-speed output gearbox, hydraulic supply for cooling, load bank for loading the generators and a control console that includes TestEx® software that is proven in the industry. The test stand is configured to be universal in nature and can support testing of electrical power generation components such as IDGs, generators, VSCFs, VFSGs, etc. on ANA's existing fleet such as A320, B737, B747, B767, B777, Q400, CRJ, etc.

Samsung Might Get into Trouble for Laptops Preinstalled Spyware

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 30, 2011 – Samsung-branded devices have long enjoyed broad popularity due to its unique design and sound functionality and every newly-launched product will become focus. But now Samsung will be probably involved in trouble since some customer of Samsung laptop found keylogging software preinstalled in his Samsung PC which he bought not long. This spyware is able to monitor every keystroke that the user makes on his laptop PC.

Words come from a customer of Samsung laptop, who is a Toronto security researcher. He detected StarLogger on his machine with a rootkit scanner, deleted it, and later returned his laptop to the store where he bought it after experiencing a problem with a video driver. The second machine that he brought home also came pre-installed with StarLogger. Though it is not sure that whether all Samsung laptops are preinstalled this software, the chances are ample. It is now definitely a trouble that might drag Samsung to scandal.

The software preinstalled in the Samsung laptops is called StarLogger, which its maker boasts is "completely undetectable and starts up whenever your computer starts up."StarLogger is a publicly available keylogging tool that can capture anything typed into a machine as well screenshots and send that data silently to an email address that the installer chooses.

Though it is yet to know why Samsung does so on its laptops, it harms the privacies of the users. And some sensible users would very likely to bring Samsung to the court. It seems that Samsung needs to give a reasonable explanation to the customers. Reputation is hard to build but easy to lose.

MIRTEC Europe’s Distributor TestWorks to Exhibit its SPI and AOI Systems at NEW 2011

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 28, 2011 – The MIRTEC MS-11 In-Line SPI System uses Shadow Free Moiré Phase Shift Imaging Technology and 'Phase Stepping Image Processing' to inspect solder paste deposition on PCB's post-screen print.  Far superior to laser SPI technology, the MS-11 will inspect for insufficient solder, excessive solder, shape deformity, shift of deposition and bridging. The MS-11 is configured with an ultra-high-resolution Camera for enhanced image quality and superior accuracy.

Image processing based on the Moiré phase shift method is by far the most precise way of post-print solder paste profile inspection. This method projects light in grid or stripe patterns on the solder paste depot. The light pattern is being moved step by step along the depot and a downward looking high resolution CCD camera acquires the resulting images. The MS-11 uses a "shadow-free" construction where both sides of the solder paste depot are being inspected at the same time.

Among the most important advantages of the Moiré technology are the superior resolution at determining the solder paste thickness and the impassivity towards external faults like irregularities of the PCB structure or towards contingent bending of the substrate. The final result is a highly precise 3D image from which the system can precisely calculate volume and shape of the depot.

Air Partner charters the giant Antonov 225 to fly aid to Japan

PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 28, 2011 – The Air Partner Emergency Planning team members spent the weekend finalising the logistics following confirmation of the flight last Friday, and were on-site during loading to ensure a smooth and timely operation. The aircraft is carrying varied cargo including water, masks, protective suits, blankets, food, respirators and anti-radiation medication. Additionally, the load comprises a range of specialist equipment for relief teams such as pumps, compressors, generators, dosimeters (which measure an individual's exposure to radiation), and radiometers (to measure the power of electromagnetic radiation).

The AN225 has been chartered by Air Partner in the past for other major outsize air cargo contracts. For example, the company used the aircraft to fly helicopters from Toulouse to an event in Kuala Lumpur and to move a 14-carriage exhibition train from Hawaii to the USA for a German engineering company.

Richard Smith, Air Partner's Freight Director, said: "It was very satisfying to secure use of the AN225 once again. The aircraft was ideal for the task as it allowed us to move the entire payload in one airlift which was commercially beneficial for the client. Following the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, Air Partner has been involved in assisting the Japanese relief effort from the outset. We flew one of the first relief flights and medical support teams into the region, as well as their equipment, and this latest relief flight is part of our on-going operations on beha oled technology on mobile phone lf of governments, corporate companies and international charities."

The AN225 is a rare sight. Originally designed to support Russia's space programme, it can carry 250 tonnes of cargo, has a 290ft wingspan and is almost 50 per cent longer than a Boeing 747.
