videantis announces 40nm Silicon Success with Multi-core, Multi-standard Video Processing Solution

The multi-core chip was developed by videantis and is especially designed for high-definition video, multimedia, and safety applications in energy-aware environments such as mobile or automotive application domains. The IC integrates the third generation of a complete video subsystem including the firmware-upgradeable v-MP4280HDX multi-standard high-definition video IP solution, occupying only 4.28 mm2 of the die area.

By combining a set of innovative low-power design approaches such as selective reading for reduced memory activity, fine-grain clock gating to dynamically disable inactive processing units, and special low-power instruction set extensions, a break-through in low power consumption is achieved with only 5mW for a single video core at an operating frequency of 400MHz. Additional power management features implemented include voltage islands with power gating, and multiple internal clocks.

Leveraging videantis' unique programmable stream and video engine architectures, the chip supports all relevant video compression standards including H.264/AVC, MVC, MPEG-4, Div my photo and wallpaper X, Xvid, WMV9/VC-1, MPEG-2, H.263, RealVideo, Sorenson, On2 VP6, and Google VP8/WebM Project in full HD quality, and is upgradeable per firmware update to future upcoming standards on the same device. Besides video compression and decompression, it is further ideally suited for advanced application-specific video processing solutions such as high-quality multi-format video transcoding, high-end frame rate conversion for mobile and consumer applications, robust video stabilization for mobile environments, and optimized OpenCV-based face and gesture recognition as well as image and video processing libraries for advanced automotive driver assistance applications such as adaptive cruise control, lane detection, vehicle detection or night vision.

El mercado nacional de pasajeros se ha incrementado 1.2% respecto a mayo del año pasado y continúa en expansión acelerada durante 2011, no obstante que algunas aerolíneas dejaron de operar en el último año. Este hecho también se refleja en el AICM donde hoy existe mayor competencia y alternativas para los usuarios que utilizan esta terminal aérea.

Hampson Aerospace’s Texstars Division Ships 75,000th Transparent Armor Window

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 24, 2011 – Paris, EU – Hampson Aerospace Aerostructures & Composites, a division of Hampson Aerospace (Hampson), announced that it has shipped its 75,000th Transparent Armor Gun Shield (TAGS) window. As part of an armored gun turret enclosure, the TAGS kits that include transparent armor windows from Hampson are installed and deployed on a wide variety of military vehicles, such as Humvee, Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Stryker Mobile Gun System as well as on the M-1 Abrams and Paladin.  

Hampson Aerospace will be showcasing its Global capabilities at the Paris Air Show Hall 2b, Stand F155 June 20-26, 2011 in Le Bourget, France.

When TAGS was introduced in 2003, it was a tactical safety add-on apparatus that was installed in-theater and eventually became standard equipment for virtually all new military armored vehicles that include gun turret systems. They were immediately put to the test in Iraq and Afghanistan and they instantly provided an extra margin of safety for my photo and wallpaper US and allied troops from situational enemy fire.

In addition to ballistic protection, TAGS windows are Night Vision Goggle-compatible and provide superior optical characteristics.  TAGS windows are produced using a Hampson proprietary construction of laminated glass with polycarbonate spall plies that absorb the energy from standard-issue small arms fire.  They provide an added degree of battlefield awareness that could mean the difference between life or death and Hampson is proud that there have been zero failures reported in the field in the life of the program.
