Nominations Open for Awards Honoring South Carolina's Leading Manufacturers

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2011 – GREENVILLE, S.C. – Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 Silver Crescent Awards for Manufacturing Excellence, the acclaimed annual program which recognizes the achievements and contributions of South Carolina's top manufacturers.

Now in its tenth year, the exclusive annual recognition program honors manufacturing organizations from across the state for their contributions to South Carolina's educational system, commitment to workforce, environmental stewardship, and product or process improvements.  Past Silver Crescent Award recipients include such notables as Bridgestone-Firestone, BorgWarner, Alcoa, Sonoco, GE Energy and Packaging Corporation of America.

New for 2011 is a simplification of the nomination process to allow for easier third party nominations, as well as to enable organizations with a strong story to tell, but only limited access to statistical data, to remain competitive in the program, noted Tony Smith, chairman of The Silver Crescent Foundation, which annually bestows the awards.

"For 2011, our evaluation system will review each nominee's support of education within their community, whether pre-school tutoring or mentoring or apprenticeship programs, as well as their commitment to workforce development and work-life balance," said Smith.  "Support of environmental programs, green or sustainability initiatives, product or process improvement, and innovation and efficiency programs are also considered.  Our goal is to recogniz oled technology on mobile phone e the best of the best in South Carolina manufacturing – whether large, medium or small in company size."

To be eligible for honors, companies must submit a nomination form, available online at www.SilverCrescentSC.org, by the deadline of July 15.  Nominations may be submitted by companies directly or by third parties, and will be evaluated for completeness and ranked by a review panel from the Silver Crescent Foundation based solely on responses received.

The top companies will be honored on September 22 at the Salute To Manufacturing Awards Luncheon at the Carolina First Center in Greenville, South Carolina.  Awards will be presented in the Small, Midsized and Large Manufacturer Categories.

Presented annually by The Silver Crescent Foundation, the 2011 Silver Crescent Awards are co-sponsored by Marketplace Staffing, one of South Carolina's leading staffing and productivity solution providers, by CPM Federal Credit Union, and by SC Biz News, LLC.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the awards luncheon in September, Smith noted.

To encourage eligible manufacturers to participate in the 2011 p my photo and wallpaper rogram, a broad-based branding and awareness campaign has been launched in media markets across the state and via Internet channels, viral marketing and grassroots public relations efforts, added program manager Sharon Halsey of the Silver Crescent Foundation

"We want to encourage as many eligible manufacturers, or individuals with supplier-partners to manufacturers, to consider nominating a manufacturer for consideration in this important honors program," said Halsey.  "By being nominated, they can benefit from 1086274749  expanded awareness of their organization, networking with top manufacturing executives, positive employee morale and regional/national recognition.  It's a great opportunity for Palmetto State manufacturers."

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2011 – When John Turner placed his order online at www.dorcydirect.com he had no idea the help that his community was about to receive. After reviewing the week my photo and wallpaper ends orders, Dorcy's IT director Mark Craddock noticed John's order. Mark noticed that the order was shipping to the city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Knowing that the area was hard hit by tornado's, Mark quickly notified John to see if he was out of power, if he needed his order expedited, and if there was anything else Dorcy could do for him. John Turner, a University of Alabama police officer, was one of the lucky ones. The path of the tornado missed his home by less than 2 miles.  With many residents in the Cedar Crest community out of power, flashlights were in desperate need.  Working nights to search for victims, assist with cleanup, and helping to prevent looting, John Turner said "one thing we learned the first night is that multiple flashlights are a necessity in these situations especially for 12 hour shifts."

A letter received from Interim Chief of Police Tim Summerlin, stated "I wanted to send you a personal note of thanks for your generous donation of lights and glow sticks to the recovery efforts currently underway in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  This has been a trying time for our community; the scale of the catastrophe is unlike anything we have ever experienced in our area in modern history.  However, in the midst of tragedy, I continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support from good folks like Dorcy who give of their time, energy and resources to help those who are hurting.  It provides hope and encouragement to all of those affected and an assurance that we will be able to define this moment not simply by the tragedy, but by the goodness of our society."   Please help the victims of April's tornado by donating to the University of Alabama's website at http://www.ua.edu/tornadorelief/ .

New release of CORENA iSpec2200 6.0.1 provides integrated support for iSpec 2200 and S1000D

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2011 – CORENA, a global leader in S1000D software and implementation services, announced today the release of Version 6.0.1 of its CORENA iSpec2200 software. This latest release merges CORENA iSpec2200 with CORENA S1000D to provide a single integrated solution for authoring and publishing both data formats.

Some benefits of the merged solution include:

•   Elimination of the cost and risk associated with legacy program data conversion from iSpec 2200 to S1000D

•   Reduces the impact of data format changes to your supply chain, customers, and support organizations

•   Elimination of multiple and redundant tech pubs systems simplifies support requirements and reduces IT costs

•   Using a single best-of-breed solution that supports both standards increases efficiency and reduces training costs

•   Consistent, high-quality, easily accessible technical data has been shown to increase maintenance efficiency and improve Mean Time to Repair

CORENA iSpec2200 6.0.1 provides functionality for import and export of program/model configurations, the ability to configure manuals, Business Rules management, Workflow configuration, and user access and privilege management. The CORENA iSpec2200 solution also includes effectivity management based on the S1000D applicability model (ACT/PCT/CCT) and provides AMTOSS (Aircraft Maintenance and Task Oriented Support System) management capabilities to ensure code uniqueness.

In addition, the release includes transfer package capabilities for importing and exporting entire manuals or parts of manuals and planning capabilities that include "book plan" management, caution/warning pool support, illustration management, "where used" reporting, work assignment and status.

Because a single system is used to manage both S1000D and iSpec 2200 formats natively in XML and SGML respectively, the need for data conversion and data filters is eliminated. And because a common user interface is used to support both formats, the solution facilitates content reuse and a high degree of automation.

"This new release of CORENA iSpec2200 provides CORENA customers with a significantly improved user interface and the ability to use some of the best concepts from the S1000D specification with their iSpec2200 data", said Helmuth Naumer, General Manager of CORENA USA. "Although it produces iSpec2200-compliant content, CORENA iSpec2200 takes advantage of many advanced concepts from S1000D and allows authors to use them in their iS my photo and wallpaper pec 2200 environment. One example of this is the caution and warning pools - this came from the S1000D Technical Information Repository concept and CORENA has extended this to its iSpec2200 solution."

CORENA iSpec2200 6.0.1 1086274749  was timed to coincide with major new releases of CORENA S1000D (S1000D oled technology on mobile phone Common Source Data Base), CORENA PAGE (for PDF book generation), and CORENA IPC (for Illustrated Parts Data generation from a database). Demonstrations of CORENA iSpec2200 6.0.1 will be provided on June 7/8 at the upcoming ATA eBusiness and S1000D User Forum in Montreal, Quebec.
