Houston Told To Take A Back Seat

PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 13, 2011 – Houston, TX - The space shuttles have been deployed to other states and to add insult to injury, oled technology on mobile phone they're going to cannibalize our space museum and dole out Houston's space artifacts to other cities. Unbelievably, what Houston gets are a couple of shuttle seats. In other words, Houston is being asked to take a 'back seat' in the distribution of shuttle memorabilia. Especially disturbing is the symbolism that has played out. What goes around comes around.

But to justify my point, for over thirty years Houstonians have devoted their time and talents to the orbiter program, but it's been over a half-century since Houston embarked on space exploration. Second to oil, space has been Texas' biggest export.

Cities that have never participated in space exploration will receive the fruits of our labor, and many of them voted throughout the years to cut funding for NASA. Why NASA Administrator, Charles Bolden, capitulated, is beyond me. Why our elected officials took this lying down, is baf my photo and wallpaper fling. In Texas we don't 'stand down.' We fight for what we think is right. Remember the Alamo!

This is a slap in the face not only to NASA employees who reside in the Greater Houston area, but especially to those whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice when the Challenger & Columbia shuttles were lost. Their families' pleas fell on deaf ears and it was painful to see their reaction to the news.

Why does the east coast need three shuttles? I'll be the first to admit that the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and the Smithsonian Museum are worthy recipients, but what has the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space museum in New York, and the California Science Center in Los Angeles, ever done to further space exploration aside from providing a parking space for a retired space shuttle?

And now for the disturbing symbolism...for a half-century of dedication to space exploration, Houston has now been ask to take the 'back seat.' Many on Facebook state it's a red state - blue state issue, so it's become a color issue. Ironic that this administration and NASA Administrator, Charles "Uncle Tom" Bolden, would tell Houston 'to go to the back of the bus.'
