PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 05, 2011 – Safety expert Phil La Duke's "Why We Violate The Rules" to be reprinted in the spring 2011 American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) technical division newsletter to be published later this month, "The Compass," vol. 10, no. 3. The article was originally printed in the October 2010 edition of Fabricating and Metalworking magazine, for which La Duke writes a column entitled "The Safe Side." Amy Bower, editor of "The Compass," says she chose La Duke's article because it "offered a concise list of practical actions that any safety leader or manager oled technology on mobile phone could implement."
Bower noted that when choosing articles to run in "The Compass," she looks for pieces that spread "ideas and insights into management and leadership topics with peers." Bower, who has worked in her field for over 25 years, continued that the goal of "The Compass" is to allow authors to "share knowledge to expand the safety, health and environment (SH&E) profession's body of knowledge, offer new ways of thinking about SH&E practices, recei my photo and wallpaper ve professional recognition and enhance career advancement, and continue to advance the standard of excellence of practice specialty/ branch and to enhance ASSE's standing as the leading professional safety resource."
"I'm always flattered when editors of other publications ask for permission to reprint my work," relates La Duke. "But when the ASSE technical division expressed interest, (coincidentally) at the same time for permission to republish my work, I was really humbled" continues La Duke, who was approached by the ASSE management division about reprinting his Facility Safety Management magazine article, Deming's 14 Points for Safety: Applying Total Quality Management to Reduce Workplace Risk in its technical newsletter.
ASSE will hold its national conference and expo June 12th –15th in Chicago, IL. La Duke spoke at last year's conference in Baltimore. Both Fabricating & Metalworking and Facility Safety Management magazines have booths at the conference and La Duke is expected at the expo.
