Maynard, MA, May 27, 2011 – SANBlaze Technology, Inc., a leading provider of embedded storage and computing solutions, today announced the SB2-USB-DVD one slot CompactPCI carrier that features a slot loaded DVD recorder-player that is accessed using standard USB 2.0 cables and protocol.
The SANBlaze SB2-USB-DVD supports connections to external equipment via front panel USB port or via USB signals routed to the Rear Transition Module (RTM). "There is still a large installed user base for CompactPCI technology, and they need support for the latest removable media formats. This blade gives embedded systems designers the ability to boot and access CDROM media for purposes of OS or application software installation." said Steve Looby, Director of Product Management at SANBlaze. "Our solution accepts standard commodity removable media that is compliant with both DVD and CD formats. This offers great flexibility in a single slot and seamless integration into new and existing embedded platforms."
The DVD player supports multiple read functions; it reads DVD-ROMs up to 8x speed, and CD-ROMs up to 24x s oled technology on mobile phone peed. It writes to DVD-Rs, DVD +Rs and DVD +RWs at 8x speed my photo and wallpaper or DVD-RWs at 6x speed. And it handles DVD-R DL/DVD +R9 format disks just as comfortably (4x) as CDs in -R/-RW formats (24x).
Additionally, the slot loaded DVD provides a one push emergency Eject function that allows for the media in the drive to be ejected if the board is not powered. The SB2-USB-DVD, utilizing ubiquitous USB2.0 interface, provides the perfect solution to quickly integrate an "in-chassis" DVD player-recorder into an embedded platform..
